Late Night Art Session

April 11, 2012

I didn’t know what to expect at the first Late Night Art Session at Paddy’s Coffee House Hosted by &THEM Collective, but I was excited!

&THEM made print outs of my turtles and JToddO’s artwork for people to color and draw on.

There was a DJ filling the air with hip hop music as everyone drew, drank, and talked.

I got to draw on one of the counter displays with a window marker!

My bunny and her good friend worked on their crafting stuff.

I brought my button machine, and helped people make some custom pins!

I made these T-Rex buttons.

Some people that got a hold of the turtle print outs and art supplies crack me up.

I got to see some of my favorite artists in the Bay Area too…like Basic Lee, Nick Trujillo, JP Neang, and Laura Ho!

It was a fun night of meeting new artists and people, and seeing old ones too. It’ll probably happen again, and maybe when it does you can come join us!

Today, I bought some Micron pens for half the regular price. I love micron pens, and use them in my sketch book the most.

But Micron pens cost around $3 each, and to me that’s a lot.

So whenever Michaels has a 50% off 1 regular priced item, I go get a 6 pack. With the discount, each pen is around $1.50…half the regular price!

I might not need new Micron pens at the moment, but since the 50% coupon doesn’t come out every week I have to take advantage and stock up. Eventually, I’ll need fresh Micron pens. And getting the pens for half price is awesome. You can do the same with any art supply you regularly use yo!

House Blend

August 23, 2011

House Blend Art Show presented by &THEM at Paddy’s Coffee House was a java of a good time. There are some photos of all the fun on Union City Patch.

It was an entire day of chatting with people, drawing, and passing out turtle pins for me. I got to see printouts of my turtle cup colored by little kids and big kids and big big kids. Jtoddo also had printouts of his art colored by whoever wanted to, and man I must say it’s a strange feeling to see something you drew…posted all over the walls…colored by strangers. Was great to collaborate and hang out with &THEM crew as always and also with the other artists too…JP NeangLaura Ho…and Bryant Sina.

Big turtle thanks to &THEM and Paddy’s for throwing the event and art show! And big turtle thanks to all the people that came out and made me feel like a turtle star!

Turtle Wayne's Art Gallery

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Winter Art Show at Hotel Des Arts. I had a good time seeing familiar faces in new places and meeting new faces at those same places.

Group photo of the hotel staff, curators, and artists (most of these photos are courtesy of &THEM).

Me at my first group show…in my first group show pose.

The curators…&THEM…and Jeremy Fish (who has a painted room at the hotel).

Turtle Wayne: Hey Jessica…are the women you paint…are they real women?

Jessica Gill: No

Turtle Wayne: Hey JToddO…are you trying to start some art beef with Turtle Wayne?

JToddO: No…yes…maybe.

Turtle Wayne: Hey Gun…our styles are very similar.

Gun: Yeah.

Doing my handsome boy modeling pose next to my artwork.

Close-up of the cards I made for the &THEM curators.

Francis and Chevonne and the card.

Had all four curators sign their cards…so I can keep for memories.

I stayed at the painted room by David Choe.

A bunch of people I met at the show really wanted to check out the room. So I gave a few room tours.

You know it’s a good time when you don’t get to bed till 3am in the morning.

Thanks again to everyone for making my first group art show opening an awesome one!

Opening Night!
